I had an interesting conversation during the a drinking session with my friend. it revovlved around growing up kind of, you know having a kid, starting a family etc. it resulted in some interesting comments:
Friend: "choice. its all about choice. i dont want my relatives to be at my death bed because they think the have to me. i want them to be there by choice, like my friends who are going to be there by choice. I mean i hope my friends will be there." he is smirking at this point.
Me: "of course they will."
Friend: "and that is why i dont but into this family sh1t. true that they would show up at your funeral but would they really want to?"
Me: "well its true that they might no care to that much. and i think that is why friends are even more important than some family. I bet you by the time you start having a kid if all of us friends are still around and having kids, its actually no gonna be that bad. there will be a phase of it thats hard, probably the first 5 years. but eventually we will get back on track of hanging out with each other once the kids a bit older. and you know what....all will be safe!. getting married is not that bad. instead of wednesday night drinking we'll switch it upto to sunday football day with all the kids doing shit another room while we watch the game and have a some shit on the gril"
I never saw myself on this side of the argument! anyway, time to go sleep now :)
